  • News: Tax-Exempt Donations to Fairhaven Girls’ School

As of December 1, 2008, Fairhaven Girls’ School (FGS) is operating under the 501c3 federal tax exempt status of The Power of Hope, a Washington youth-serving nonprofit.

This legal and temporary fiscal agency agreement gives FGS the ability to solicit, and donors to claim, tax-exempt gifts to FGS while FGS completes the 501c3 approval process. Charitable gifts to Fairhaven Girls School are legally tax-deductible for federal income tax purposes under this agreement. The federal tax ID number for The Power of Hope is 46-0468164. Call Michael Harris, executive director, at 206-755-4130 if questions.

Checks for donations should be made to “Fairhaven Girls’ School” and should be referenced on tax returns as “The Power of Hope dba Fairhaven Girls’ School.”

Fairhaven Girls’ School is a Washington State Non-profit serving girls in the middle grades in Whatcom County. The mission of Fairhaven Girls’ School (FGS) is two-fold: · FGS will inspire and educate middle-school girls (grades 5-8) in Whatcom County. · FGS will serve as a community resource for parents, educators and community members.

Fairhaven Girls’ School believes that girls thrive in a single-sex educational environment. Providing a full-spectrum education for grades five through eight, the curriculum is carefully designed for each girl to embrace a positive, authentic identity, passion for learning, leadership opportunities, and broader connections to the larger world community. Girls at Fairhaven Girls’ School develop competence and confidence through work and service, authentic identity through reflection and creativity, and courage through perseverance. Fairhaven Girls’ School believes that this work is accomplished through respect for and in partnership with families, the school community, the environment and society, at large.

Currently, over 30% of the students enrolled at FGS receive some financial aid to support their attendance at FGS. This reality reflects the FGS commitment to sustaining a financially diverse student community. Support for FGS Scholarship programs is needed and donations are tax-deductible. Please consider investing in the educational success of girls in our community.

Please visit Fairhaven Girls’ School on Cornwall Avenue, or online at: http://www.fairhavengirlsschool.org to explore the many ways you can get involved in the FGS Project!
